To provoke their thinking we asked them 'what they see, what they think and what are they wondering.’ Please take time to read their interesting responses posted in the classroom. To explore more on differences and similarities, Preschool students together with their Grade 3 buddies have taken selfies and discussed each other's facial features and recorded them on the Venn diagram.

Who we are We revisited our unit of inquiry (UOI) last week and we will continue to inquire this in the next few weeks. This UOI is under the theme of ‘Who we are’. This is when the children will be inquiring into themselves, and their physical, social and emotional characteristics. They will be learning about how they are growing and changing and how there are similarities and differences between themselves and their peers. We watched the video of 'Color of Us', and we explore our skin colours as well as the colours of our peers. We mixed and matched different skin colours. As part of the provocation, the students were asked to describe their journey to school, how they travel and what they see on the way. Central idea Journeys can take us near and far. Lines of inquiry:
Pebble Breathing In our mindfulness practice this term we have focused on Pebble Breathing. We listen to a song and as we look at a flower pebble, we imagine being ‘soft as a flower’. Then we change our pebbles for a mountain pebble and imagine being ‘firm as a mountain’. https://youtu.be/uhaS1thwsPA Literacy
Learning letters and sounds through arts and crafts, cooking and hands-on activities. We made some cool dinosaur hats and cooked dinosaur eggs. We boiled the eggs, cracked a little bit and soaked it into the water with food colouring. |
