![]() Graphing - Pictograph Unit of Inquiry -Linked to Mathematics Line of inquiry focus: Ways to travel The students were asked to draw pictures of the transportation they used during their holiday journey. They presented the data using the pictures. We learned that 12 children traveled by airplane and 4 kids by car. CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES The students drew another self-portrait for term 2. It was great to see the progress that many students have developed fine motor skills and able to draw their portraits. They also made name trains, counted and wrote the letters in their names. The children enjoyed our letter sound 'u' activity where they blew some paints using straws to make raindrops over the 'u,u, for umbrella'. Term 2 Self-Portraits ![]() Chinese New Year Celebration 2017 We all enjoyed the arts and crafts, the interesting story about Chinese New Year and the Chinese version of Eric Carle, 'From Head to Toe' story. We liked the snacks provided by the Chinese Community! A big thank you to Ai (Maia's mum) and Pinkie (Gabriel's mum) who came and facilitated the activities smoothly! The kids made some lanterns, Dragon puppets, masks and other fun activities.

Unit of Inquiry Journeys take us near and far. The children have made their own poster using the photos from their holiday travels. They also had a 'show and tell' activity, where they explained their journeys. It was a good opportunity for them to develop good communication skills, ability to listen when someone is talking, and develop confidence when speaking in front of the whole class. ECC Assembly Preschool Cats confidently shared an animal dance during our ECC assembly on 17th of January. It was attended by the ECC students and teachers. Classroom Activities and Play
Preschool Cats had a great time playing together with our sensory bin. Beginning last week, we had a 'pretend airplane' from Preschool H class. The children were very excited to play a role of a pilot, flight attendant as well as passenger. They continued making arts and crafts using 2D shapes. We also explored letter sound 'o'. We baked orange cupcakes and squeezed oranges for our fresh juice. Holiday Journey The children were very excited sharing their holiday adventures with their friends. They have collected some items from their travels such as boarding passes, tickets, postcards, maps, and brochures. They also took lots of photos of different modes of Transportation they saw and photos of Flat Stanley with them wherever they went. They described what transportations they have been on during their holidays. The children drew and painted their holiday recounts. Learning outcome: Recall past experience Enjoy the photos of each family’s journey with Flat Stanley! Mathematics Learning outcomes: -Describe basic 2D shapes using their own words -Recognise that shapes remain the same regardless of orientation Inquiring and exploring into Shapes The children have started exploring and describing shapes. They did various activities to be able to understand, describe, and recognise shapes. They have been playing games, hunting shapes around UWCT, spray painting and making shape collages. Tycoon's 4th Birthday Celebration
