Field Trip to Khao Phra Thaew National Park We went to the national park and the children had a great time playing and exploring the nature. Attitudes: Appreciation, confidence, curiosity, respect. Here are a few quotes from the children's reflection: What I did in the rainforest? What was my favourite? Chase: “I went to the jungle and I saw a cute puppy. My favourite is I really like the water and it was so cold.” Beau: “I love having a picnic in the jungle and playing with Kai. I saw a dog and an old house. We went to on a school bus and we fly kites. I saw a golden spider, a centipede and many ants.” Maia: I went to the jungle and I saw ants and caterpillars. The paths that we walk in have many red ants. I liked when I touch the water in the stream.” Kai: “I saw a waterfall then I touched the water and it was so cold. My favourite was flying my kite with Beau.” Angus: “I walk in the jungle. I saw some ants, river, and caterpillar. I found 2 dogs and a little puppy. I love the water in the river.” Melissa: "I was scared of the red ants." Gabriel: “I went to the jungle with my friend Dragon. I saw many ants with a leaf on their back and they will eat it. I love going in the school van.” Bonus: “I play with Mandy, Ashley and Ameli.” Tycoon: " I like to go to the jungle and I want to see the monkey and lion." Mandy: "I see the snails, ants and many trees. I see a waterfalls and I touched the water. I see some garbage." Ashley: “In the jungle I fell down and I did not cry. I need to hold Ameli’s hand. I walk and I see a snail.” Ameli: “I go to the jungle. First I walk with my friends, then I saw the water and I touch it. I saw a rabbit.” Dragon: "I touched the water and it was very cold. I decided to play a little bit, and then I saw a really big anthill. Then I just looked at it, I tiptoed when I walk past. I watched the spider and I fly a kite. I saw lots of animals on the picture.” Classroom Explorations Our letter sound of the week was 'Kk'. We made kites and we flew them at the national park. We enjoyed making fruit kebabs. We looked through a picture book of letter k and drew pictures on our sound book. Unit of Inquiry - Summative Assessment As we conclude our unit, students were able to come up with new ideas and make things creatively using their imaginations. They have created a 'food shop' role play area. They made different food out of paper plates, pasta, foam, and other recycled materials. Swimming Class It was sunny last Wednesday and Preschool students have had a great time at the swimming pool. New Students We welcomed Roi and Sofiia in Preschool Cats! Please give them a warm welcome to their family as well. Ashley's 4th Birthday

Language activitiesLetter Cc Last week we focused on letter C. We enjoyed our colourful corn sensory bin, we made cat in the hat, and carrot crafts. We also drew and wrote the words that start with letter c on our sound book. Holiday Recount After the mid-term break the children were asked what they did over the holidays. They were encouraged to express themselves creatively on paper and to verbally tell us what they were drawing about. Mathematics - Patterns During mathematics activities, we have been focusing on patterns. Preschool students together with their Grade 3 buddies looked for patterns in the ECC playground. They found many patterns on the display board, floor and play equipment. Patterns are everywhere! They applied their knowledge into our pattern strips, pattern tile arts and pattern boards. Beau's 5th Birthday Celebration
Thank you for celebrating your 5th birthday with us. Inquiring into Numbers Preschool students have been inquiring into numbers. They were exposed to many playful activities and hands-on games using variety of manipulatives. We played bingo, we went number hunting around the school and used tally charts to record our data. We count everyday and everywhere! We count our friends in the morning and we do counting in our calendar. We count the bowls and spoons when we have snacks and many more. Phonics We had a busy week with our letter sound of the week 'Nn'. We did night craft, necklaces, noodle sensory bin and making cheese nachos. What a fun way to learn sounds through hands-on experiences. Night, Necklaces, Nest, Noodles and Nachos! We are the Preschool Cats! We needed to choose a class name that began with C (Preschool C). Our choices were living things such as coconut, cat, carrot, cow, camel or corn. Mathematics: Linked to data handling - graphing. Unit of Inquiry - How we express ourselves Developing a new role play area The students were shown various photos of role play areas. Preschool Cats voted 'Hospital' as their new role play area. We brainstormed many ideas on what we will need for our hospital role-play area. We drew pictures on a big white paper and the teacher scribed. Gabby and Ameli took action and brought some equipment to make our hospital an enjoyable place to pretend. If you have old equipment or empty medicine boxes to add to our 'hospital', please send them in. The children can make use of them. |
