Beach Trip We had wonderful weather for our trip to the beach on Tuesday. The children enjoyed being out in nature and exploring and finding many different living things, such as crabs, vines, mushrooms, flowers and trees. They participated well in a beach clean up to help take care of the environment for the animals that live at the beach. Living Things Show and Tell While last week we had three children sharing about how they take care of their pets, this week we had three show and tells about taking care of plants. Leo and his parents shared with us their sunflowers and also showed us some of the products from sunflowers - sunflower seeds and sunflower oil. We were able to taste the seeds and dip bread in the oil. Then Leo's Dad filled a jar with sunflower oil and dropped some food colouring in. It was amazing to observe the liquids separating and making little balls of colour. Hunter and her dad shared with us a garden that Hunter had made and told us what plants need to grow and stay healthy. Then Nana and her Mum shared about the many plants they have at home and in particular their basil plant. They had prepared some basil flavoured lemonade for us all to enjoy. Thank you to all for sharing with us! Animals inspired by Eric Carle We have been reading some books about different animals by Eric Carle, and looking at the beautiful pictures. We decided to make our own animal painting, using a similar technique to Eric Carle. We have chosen our animals and are starting to paint. Classroom Play and Activities Comments are closed.
