Weaving Our letter of the week was Ww, so we decided to do some weaving with a traditional bamboo cage. Weaving teaches children many developmental skills while offering a creative and challenging learning experience. As they weave, children learn patterning, critical thinking skills, problem solving, and they learn to create 3-D art, or think in three dimensions. By weaving in and out in a pattern, children learn to coordinate their eyes, hands and minds; and they also cross the midline, which reinforces brain development between the right and left hemispheres. And just as important, the children really enjoyed it! Lots of good reasons to carry on with weaving into Term 3! Songkran Songkran is such a wonderful festival that gives us a chance to have fun and do something we wouldn't ordinarily be allowed to do - splashing our teachers and friends! While some children were a little hesitant at first, most embraced the play and joined in the fun. Week 1, Term 3 Photo GalleryGetting Ready for our Museum The children worked really hard to prepare for presenting 'All About Me'. Thank you so much for supporting them, both by helping them bring in special momentoes and coming to see the museum. Measurement
Following on from our investigation into our height, we found some interesting lines that Kru Liv had stuck on the table. Kru Liv asked us 'Which is the Longest line?' Most of us pointed to one line. Then she said 'how can you find out?' We used a piece of yarn to measure each line, then we could tell which one was the longest. We were surprised at the answer! Next time you're in our class, ask your child to show you the longest line. Comments are closed.
