IS IT A LIVING THING? A plant in our classroom that was not thriving provided great discussion for our students last week. We guided students ideas using a thinking routine called "I see..." "I think..." to make their thinking visible. FIELD TRIP TO VANICH FARM A great day was enjoyed by all on our field trip to Vanich Farm. Students observed corn and rice crops, herb and flower gardens and a range of farm animals. We learned more about what these living things need and what kind of care their require. PREPARING FOR OUR ECC GARAGE SALE
Students enjoyed sorting toys, preparing price tags and of course playing with toys in preparation for our ECC Garage Sale. We raised 17,010 Baht! Thank you for supporting our students in taking action. We will be working with Baan Paklong Cheep School to find out what play equipment we can support them in purchasing.

MATHS: MAKE EQUAL SETS Last week, we read a story called, The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins. It supported students in developing their counting skills and also encouraged them to think about sharing things equally and fairly. GRADE 3 BUDDIES Students selected their favourite story for the grade 3 buddies to read. They then went on a treasure hunt looking for living and non-living things in the ECC gardens and playground. WHAT DO LIVING THINGS NEED? We visited Nurse Joop in the health clinic to find out more about what people need to stay strong and healthy. She also took the opportunity to check students height and weight. Sharing the Planet Students enjoyed tuning into our new year long unit. We went on a nature hunt looking for living and non-living things around the UWCT campus. We also went on a small hike during our field trip to the nearby national park. HOLIDAY PAINTINGS Last week, students created a holiday painting using black ink and coloured dye. It was wonderful to hear them speaking so confidently about the time they spent with their families. HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES - SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT TASK As we conclude our unit on play, students were challenged with designing and making a toy for our role play toy shop. This task allowed students to demonstrate their understanding of what Preschool children enjoy playing with and how they can use their imagination to create a toy using everyday materials. global Cardboard challengeThroughout our Unit of Inquiry focusing on play, Preschool students have been very imaginative in their use of everyday materials. Last week, we showed students some videos from the Global Cardboard Challenge. On Tuesday, our Grade 3 buddies worked with us to begin construction. Students enjoyed creating colourful pasta , making their own play dough and baking pizza. Exploring the letter iLast week we enjoyed different activities that focused on the letter i. We made ice pops, searched for insects, explored ice sculptures, painted with ice and read a story about Incy Wincy Spider. UWC DAyTo celebrate UWC day on 21st September, ECC and grade 1 students participated in 4 different activities that focused on service learning and celebrating diversity. We also met Husan and Joalis who are two grade 11 scholars that our class has been buddied up with. We look forward getting to know them more this year. Next, we will look at pictures of where and what they like to play at home. Please email your pictures to Heidi if you have not already sent them. Sorting dataIn maths, we are focusing on collecting, sorting and representing data and we were able to integrate this well with our play Unit of Inquiry. Last week, students enjoyed using iPads to take photos of the different areas that they could play outside. They then sorted these pictures and asked their friends about their favourite area to play. Students also had the chance to collect, sort and represent information by asking friends about their favourite colour. Some students even created their own surveys. toast and tea partyCooking was easy last week as we decided to have a toast and tea party.
