global Cardboard challengeThroughout our Unit of Inquiry focusing on play, Preschool students have been very imaginative in their use of everyday materials. Last week, we showed students some videos from the Global Cardboard Challenge. On Tuesday, our Grade 3 buddies worked with us to begin construction. We look forward to seeing what they create. sorting and graphingStudents confidently sorted coloured animals and displayed them using animal and colour graph templates. peDuring PE lessons, Kru Garrett works with Preschool 1 students and Kru Lyndsey works with Preschool 2 students. On Friday, with the MPH being used for Opening Ceremony preparations, all students has the chance to work together in the gym. pasta, play dough and pizzaWe were busy in the kitchen last week with food starting with the letter 'p'! Students enjoyed creating colourful pasta , making their own play dough and baking pizza. Exploring the letter iLast week we enjoyed different activities that focused on the letter i. We made ice pops, searched for insects, explored ice sculptures, painted with ice and read a story about Incy Wincy Spider. UWC DAyTo celebrate UWC day on 21st September, ECC and grade 1 students participated in 4 different activities that focused on service learning and celebrating diversity. We also met Husan and Joalis who are two grade 11 scholars that our class has been buddied up with. We look forward getting to know them more this year. swimming with kru lindsayWHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU?One of the lines of inquiry for our current unit focuses on the value of play. We began by asking students what is important to them. Next, we will look at pictures of where and what they like to play at home. Please email your pictures to Heidi if you have not already sent them. Sorting dataIn maths, we are focusing on collecting, sorting and representing data and we were able to integrate this well with our play Unit of Inquiry. Last week, students enjoyed using iPads to take photos of the different areas that they could play outside. They then sorted these pictures and asked their friends about their favourite area to play. Students also had the chance to collect, sort and represent information by asking friends about their favourite colour. Some students even created their own surveys. toast and tea partyCooking was easy last week as we decided to have a toast and tea party. HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY!music with kru frederickBaking apple crumbleStudents enjoyed baking apple crumble last week and were excited to bring some home to share with their family. Celebrating wai kruThank you to our Thai teachers, Kru Ying and Kru Boom for preparing the children for our Wai Kru ceremony. i see...i think...i wonder...As we explored play around the world, this was a great inquiry-based activity to make each student's thinking visible. baking sconesEvery week, we enjoy cooking with students in Preschool. Often, we try to connect this to the letter-sound we are focusing on that week. Last week, we focused on the sound 's' and baked scones. We then had a tea party and ate these together.
